Yup. There are many projects at the moment looking at good bacteria in your gut to modulate your immune response, and use bad bacteria’s natural ability to invade human cells (like tumours) to delivery therapeutic agents. Bad bacteria are being engineered to be good bacteria by preventing them from causing disease.

there are millions of bacteria in and on us which do no harm to us, in fact we would not be alive without them as they are essential. it is thought that loss of these friendly bacteria cause many problems we see in the modern world like diabetes and obesity.
